OH radicals have larger oxidation power than ozon and chlorine and therefore play important roles in plasma chemical science. We are developing original techniques to measure OH radicals produced by discharges by utilising chemical probes and leasers.


OH Radical Measurement by Chemical Probe Method

We use terephthalic acid to observe visually the existence of OH radicals in liquids. This method is introduced into plasma reacter to develop water treatment technology.

OH Measurement using Laser-Induced Fluorescence (LIF)

Irradiating a certain ultraviolet ray to OH radicals leads to fluorescence. We investigate the production of OH radicals in water-surface discharges using an ultraviolet laser.
